NSС "Olimpiyskyi"



"Olimpiyskyi" – is a magnificent sports facilities centre in the downtown of Kyiv. The complex has a glorious sports history and has managed to prove itself as a popular tourist attraction due to the unique architecture and the possibility for hosting different events, as football championship finals and concerts of famous artists.
Built back in 1923 during the revival of the sports movement sports complex remains the major stadium of Ukrainian sport. In the heart of the stadium, in the Olympic courtyard, before the recoustruction was a place for changing rooms where all famous sportsmen of Ukraine were meeting each other during the 90-year history. Various events took place at NSC “Olimpiyskyi” such as the Olympics football tournament in 1980th (by the way, the museum of the stadium still remained olympic torch that lit the Kyiv stage at the Olympics) or Euro 2012 and hours of anxiety on the day of onset of Nazi troops in Ukraine when the match between Kyiv and Moscow teams was canceled. However, the stadium survived this period without significant losses and was rebuilt after the war. Stadium survived five such large-scale reconstruction during the history, and even more - up to 10 times - the stadium has changed names from the Red in 1923 the Olympic now. This stadium saw a magnificent victories of Dynamo Kyiv, took farewell match of Oleh Blokhin and many matches of the national football team of Ukraine. Final of the Euro 2012 was a culmination, here the best European football nation in 2012 was determined, when the Spaniards conquered the Italians 4-0.
The largest arena in the eastern Europe got the final appearance after reconstruction before Euro 2012, which lasted 38 months, today NSC "Olimpiyskyi" takes 70 thousand spectators.
